Covenant Wealth Advisors named to Worth Magazine's Top RIA Firms List 2026

Covenant Wealth Advisors has been named to Worth magazine's Top RIA Firms list for 2026. The list, developed with Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) using SEC Form ADV data, recognizes independent registered investment advisor firms with over $500 million under management, a predominantly high-net-worth client base, and no broker-dealer affiliation.

Key takeaways:

  • Covenant Wealth Advisors is included on Worth's Top RIA Firms 2026 list and was one of only eighteen firms making the "best registered investment advisors" list in the state of Virginia.

  • Selection is based on public SEC filings, not applications or nominations.

  • The four criteria: $500M+ in assets under management, predominantly high-net-worth clients, a substantial planning clientele, and independence from broker-dealers.

  • Covenant is a fee-only fiduciary firm with offices in Richmond, Williamsburg, and Reston, Virginia, serving clients across the United States.

What Is Worth Magazine's Top RIA Firms List?

Worth magazine publishes an annual list of leading registered investment advisor (RIA) firms for high-net-worth investors. The 2026 rankings were developed in collaboration with Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) and are based on the disclosures firms file with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Anyone can verify these filings through the SEC's public EDGAR database.

That last part matters. This isn't a popularity contest or a pay-to-play ranking. The data comes from regulatory filings every advisory firm is legally required to make.

How Are Firms Selected for the List?

According to Worth's published methodology, each firm on the list cleared four benchmarks:

  1. Assets under management above $500 million — evidence of substantial experience managing significant wealth.

  2. A predominantly high-net-worth client base — expertise with the complex planning needs of wealthier households.

  3. A substantial financial planning clientele — a focus on comprehensive planning, not just managing investments.

  4. Independence from broker-dealers — advice that isn't tied to selling products or earning commissions.

Why Independence Matters When Choosing an Advisor

It's a happy coincidence that we get to share this news on the Fourth of July, because independence is the criterion we care about most.

Covenant Wealth Advisors is a fee-only fiduciary. That means the only people who pay us are our clients. We earn no commissions, sell no products, and answer to no broker-dealer. When we recommend a Roth conversion, a withdrawal strategy, or a portfolio change, the recommendation may only ever serve one interest: yours.

Not every firm that calls itself an "advisor" works this way. Many are affiliated with broker-dealers and can earn commissions on the products they recommend. Worth's screen for independence filters for firms where that conflict doesn't exist.

What This Means for You

If you're evaluating financial advisors, the criteria behind this list — independence, planning depth, and experience with significant wealth — are a useful checklist regardless of which firm you choose. They're the same questions we'd tell a family member to ask. And if you'd like to see how an independent, fee-only approach applies to your situation, we'd welcome the conversation.

Disclosure: Covenant Wealth Advisors (Fonville Wealth Management, LLC) was named to Worth magazine's Top RIA Firms list for 2026, published by Worth Media Group in July 2026.
